about VICTORIA THOMASCH

Originally from a small town in Texas, Victoria Thomasch can now be found performing and teaching in New York City and around the world. Currently she is preparing to return to Opera Mississippi in April to sing the role of the Dritte Dame in the Die Zauberflöte. Most recently, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by performing the title role of Carmen with the Lighthouse Opera Company at Opera America. Last season she also appeared in various concerts with Metro Opera Tech, SAS Performing Arts Company, and Opera Mississippi. Reviews have noted her performing as a “display of a wealth of tone” (Opera Wire) with her “beautiful silky voice” (BlogCritics).

Traveling internationally to sing has been a dream come true for Victoria. She has sung in televised opera galas at Teatro Degollado in Guadalajara, performed the role of Mercédès in a cabaret version of Carmen in Berlin, and was honored to be chosen to lead the National Anthem in Toronto for a Blue Jays baseball game. With the Australian Contemporary Opera Company (previously Gertrude Opera), Victoria performed in three operas for the Yarra Valley Opera Festival. Additional roles include: Annio (La Clemenza di Tito), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Giulio Cesare (Giulio Cesare), Jennie (Down in the Valley), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Orlofsky, (Die Fledermaus), Ottavia (L'incoronazione di Poppea), and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia).

Victoria has completed young artist residencies with Sarasota Opera, Finger Lakes Opera, and the Australian Contemporary Opera Company. She received her Master of Music degree, specializing in Vocal Performance, from New York University, and earned the Yunker Music Scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor University, summa cum laude, and graduated from the Honors college, where she completed her thesis on the art songs of Hector Berlioz. Victoria’s competition awards include: 1st Place for the North International Music Competition, 2nd Place for the Elaine Malbin and Mario Lanza Competition in NYC, 2nd Place for the Internationaler Anton Rubinstein Wettbewerb Online, 3rd place Internationaler Online Gesangswettbewerb Basel and Finalist for the Lyra New York International Competition.

One of the main reasons Victoria became a musician was because she wanted to use the power of music to help others. For 5 years, she produced and performed in her Annual Recital for Refugees concerts, which raised over $23,000 for the International Rescue Committee. She has also taught singing and piano lessons to residents of a refugee camp in Greece with Lifting Hands International and hopes to return. Victoria is also a mentor and tutor with A House on Beekman in the Bronx and an active volunteer with the incredible organization, West Side Campaign Against Hunger, in her NYC neighborhood.
